Adventures of a Missionary Tourist

I wrote just to give you an update of what has been happening over the last week.

- We finished our last week of open Abbey, it ended on Saturday.

- We were involved in our last service at Abbey and said goodbye to a handful of people that we had connected with over the summer and that we weren't going to see during this coming week.

- I was able to help organize the men's bible study (which will continue after our team leaves - alright!), and I was able to help lead our weekly prayer vigil on Friday.

- I have many more things to write about as well as pictures to show you, but we are close to leaving for our trip up to Northern Ireland and the North Coast.

I'll have a more complete blog published by Wednesday, thanks for checking up and God Bless.

Hey Luke,

Imagine my surprise when, looking over an old copy of the Collegian online, I see "Dublin, Ireland" listed as one of the Red Box destinations. I've been here in Dublin for the past 7 weeks now, imagining myself to be the only Grover here! I'm doing a research program at Dublin City University, but even in an academic environment I've been able to see a bit of the religious atmosphere of the country. As one person living in my apartment says, "religion is like a good port"; something of cultural significance but no more (alcohol port of course, not ship port). That is the general attitude I've encountered: openness to discussing religion, but only at a level of curiosity rather than as something of real worth.
Anyways, I will refrain from posting an overly long comment; it's simply nice to know that a fellow Grover is here as well. It's strange that I don't believe we've ever met, not even at school! But perhaps such is the life of a molecular biology major; we don't see English Secondary Ed. majors that often.
I look forward to reading the rest of your blog posts, now that I've been awakened as to your presence here, and you will surely be in my prayers.
May God continue to bless you (and bless through you) during your time here.
